Sights and Sounds Eighty-Two

It's been several months since my last post. Last week I returned from NAB Show in Las Vegas. It was another intense week of workshops and classes on FCP X, After Effects, Motion and PhotoShop and like last year i learned a great deal.  With only 7 days to recover i found myself back in the airport on Friday but this time accompanied by my lovely wife as we headed to England for a two week holiday.
The flight out of Charleston was on time which was a little surprising due to the dodgy weather. It was however rather bumpy. We arrived in ATL and grabbed some crappy food from a TGI Fridays.
After a few adult beverages it was time to board the long haul flight to Manchester. Actually it was that bad it only took 7 hours and 20 minutes. It was smooth for the most part and we arrived about 40 minutes early. The food was pretty crap but other than we had no complaints.
We got through Immigration and Customs in about 45 minutes and were greeted by my brother Julian and his wife Sarah. It was bright and sunny in Manchester and definitely had a different feel to when to when we usually visit in the winter.
The drive to Buxton was about an hour and i was quickly reminded how mental the roads are here. Extremely narrow country roads with cars driving too fast was enough to help me temporarily forget any jet lag.  The sun continued to shine as we arrived in Buxton and we were met outisde by Mak the family Border Collie and inside my niece Kate and her cousin Sophia.
A cup of tea was a welcomed sight and then Dusti and I took the first of two daytime naps to try to get some rest.
In the evening we took Mak for a walk along an old railway line. The sun was pretty warm although there was a cool breeze but it was awesome.

Mak kept us entertained as he forged ahead and collected a variety of sticks of which we would throw for him. He played in the stream and chased ducks but never realy left our sight. He would run up ahead and lay down and wait.  The scnery was really cool. On either side of the old railway track were steep hills and cliffs. The trees were just starting to show signs of Spring unlike back home in Charleston where everything was already green.
Once back at the house we had some dinner. Sarah had made some pizza pies and salad and also some cake. We both ate and after some conversation decided to go to bed about 9:45.
I just woke up to the local church bells and some crows, pigeons, doves and whatever else outside the bedroom window. It's another bright morning although the forecast isn't as good for today. The plan is to head to Sheffield for the day and meet up with my other niece Victoria and her boyfriend Tom and later my dad will meet us and take us to Knaresborough.
